I was asked to do a new car detail on this stunning Aston Martin DB11. With the DB11 new to the market and a significant upgrade on previous models I was keen to get going!
Straight from the dealers this car wasn't dirty but a quick wash with a brand new Meguiars Lambs Wool Wash Mitt and it was time for the clay bar. Koch Chemie Blue Clay was used with plenty of clay lube to avoid any unnecessary marring.
Gently dried with the Gtechniq Diamond Sandwich Microfibre Drying Towel.
Whilst the door shuts and wing mirrors drip dried I made good use of the time by removing the wheels. This was no mean feet as there are no specific jacking points visible on the underneath of this car, so it was to the owners manual for confirmation. A rubber puck was used so as not to mark the under-tray. Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour was applied to the wheels both inside and out. Those nice red caliper got a coating as well. Once more to the owners manual to check the torque settings , I was surprised to find 185nm was the recommended wheel torque setting on this DB11 much higher than many other cars on the road! But my torque wrench dealt with that in a jiffy.
The paint work was in good condition and needed only a gentle polish using Rupes Ultra Fine compound and the Flex PE14-1 150 rotary polisher. Rotary polishers come in for some stick on the internet mainly I think because people haven't been shown how to use them properly but in the right hands they can be far more delicate than one would imagine.
Ever wondered how to release the bonnet of an Aston Martin DB11 well there's a little button just in between the door shuts. Many thanks to Dr Andy for making this one I'm sure he had some help along the way. Just a quick wipe round the bonnet and panel gaps etc before applying the sealant.
Whilst the first sealant cured I applied a thorough coating of Gtechniq L1 Anti-bacterial Leather sealant to the interior. Aston have really stepped up their game with the DB11's interior the fit and finish with the Mercedes switch gear and a huge array of possible options.
All in all a really nice car to work on. Thanks for reading!
I was requested to prepare this beauty for auction and due to the distance involved I had to quote sight unseen. My best guess was that a car of this age would have been re-sprayed and deeper sanding marks would need to be removed by machine polishing to present it at it's best!
The Aston wasn't dirty at all, certainly well looked after by the existing owner. So I was happy not to have to move it especially given it's high value! A quick detailer to remove the dust and straight to the clay bar. Koch Chemie Blue Clay was used and managed to remove a good amount of contamination.
My visual inspection and the DeFelsko paint depth gauge confirmed the car had been re-sprayed. Looking at the low amount of orange peel together with the fit and finish told me this was no rush job and my extra care and attention was all that was needed to bring out the pop!
After around 10 hours of machine polishing things were coming along nicely!
I've polished many of these old classics and there's always lots of metal work on them but thankfully GTechniq M1 Metal Polish makes short work of it.
Now that's looking better!
This stunning example was finished off with a coating of Swissvax Best of Show wax. Ready for the block!
Thank you very much for reading this write-up, I hope you enjoyed it!

Hey, loyal followers! Here I am with another writeup for your enjoyment. This time: a brand-new Range Rover Autobiography Sport in luscious Firenze Red that had gained some subtle swirls and marks before the customer had collected it from the dealership. It also had severe swirling on the black plastic canopy framing and trim, and this would all need to be removed and protected. Full writeup and pictures after the jump!
Pete and James brought a sweet Mini Cooper S Clubman for their training day, and Phil took them through everything, from washing to wet sanding. Pictures and a mini-writeup after the jump!
In co-operation with our friends at Autotint Limited, we're now able to offer pre-Ventureshield Paint Protection and post window-tint details. After the jump is a mini-gallery of my recent work on a stunning McLaren MP4-12C that shows the process.
When Swissvax created Shield, they created a tough, durable wax with premium ingredients and PTFE to produce a wax whose ultimate focus was on durability, especially for motorway milers or in winter driving conditions. And then they went a little crazy, and tweaked the recipe some more, creating a wax that gave even more serious durability without sacrificing the need for a deep, glossy shine like so many others do: Swissvax Endurance.
Not available for sale to the public and only intended for professional application, this wax has quickly gained legendary status and its rarity means that car owners who want this wax protecting and enhancing their paint have to search far and wide to find a detailer who can apply it for them. Now, we are proud to announce that DeVille Detail are able to offer an upgrade to Swissvax Endurance with any detail that involves a wax.
Containing considerably more PTFE than Shield and 40% Carnauba by volume, Endurance offers unparalleled durability and protection - up to nine months depending on driving conditions - as well as imparting a deep, reflective gloss to your paintwork. Colours are brightened and enhanced and flake pops out to greet the sun. Your paint will have a smooth, silky feel and thanks to the carefully-formulated recipe dirt and contamination will struggle to grip onto your car, like an egg in a non-stick frying pan, making regular washing much easier.
So if you are a high-mileage driver or if you just want to make sure your paint has the best possible protection and the best possible shine, don't sacrifice one for the other. Upgrade to Swissvax Endurance, and give your car the best of both worlds!
Contact us today to arrange a detail and discuss upgrading the wax to Endurance. You'll be glad you did.
Please note: your car's paintwork needs to be warm to correctly receive Swissvax Endurance - ambient temperature needs to be around 30°C, so if we are coming to your premises to carry out a detail and it is not warm outside, a garage and heat source will be required.
If you are selling your car, especially prestige models, you want to make sure that she looks her absolute best so that you can guarantee the best possible resale price. Dull, lifeless or damaged paint, weathered trim, nasty interiors and scruffy engine bays can knock hundreds of the value and leave your car languishing on the sale lists for ages. And if you're hoping to part-ex her or put that money towards a new car, you need to make sure you do everything you can to get as much as you can for her, and quickly.
That's why you should contact DeVille Detailing first. We can use our MAD DETAILING SKILLZ to restore the paint to a better-than-factory shine, get the interior looking fresh and new, polish the glasswork to a crystal clear glaze, make your engine bay look new, and much more. We can also arrange wheel refurbishment and can assist in arranging bodyshop repairs if more than a small SMART repair is needed.
So don't just dive into the trading websites and hope for the best. Get in touch first, and we'll assess how we can help make your car look so good that it demands a good price. VPAMZVNRGXWE
